The gap method always gives us pictures with more than 1 motif. Is there another way to get tessellations with 2 or more tile shapes? Well, yes. You can always divide up a shape that is already tessellating into as many parts as you like. The difficulty is to make each part a good recognizable shape.

1. Take a shape. A hexagon with opposite sides and angles equal will always tessellate even if sides are dented inwards (concave) like this...
