homer simpson motif tessellation art project head/face tessellation (homer simpson)

by Alex M.

This tessellation shows translational (slide) symmetry.

Although each face's internal details are different, each "tile" (tile = repeating shape) is very neatly, precisely reproduced and its outline is identical to all the other tiles'. They fit together without gaps or overlaps. That's what a proper tessellation does.

If I offer any constructive criticism, it's this: I wish the artist had tweaked the outlines so the top of the head and the neck/chin areas looked more human and less random. We also have to wonder, "How does Homer take over, if he hasn't even got a body? Where are the bodies buried, Homer? TELL US!!!"

Maybe Alfred Hitchcock took over after Homer. Alfred loves "missing body" mysteries.
