Real materials 11:
"Sea and Sky"

Here, I've sketched a variation of the piece onto wood. Unlike the "final" sketch "dolphins and herons", I chose to put a thick layer of water between the sea and sky portions, and removed the underwater birds with fish trapped in their bills. The water surface acts as a barrier between sea and sky, gives the piece a greater illusion of depth and distant horizon, and gives a reason for the underwater pattern to be a reflected "flip" of the above-water pattern.
